Three major Russian wireless providers have stopped carrying the iPhone, with the largest telecom, MTS, dropping the handset due to the high subsidy costs associated with being an Apple partner carrier, notes “AppleInsider” (http://tinyurl.com/jw8tlel).
Apple’s loss of support from MTS, VimpelCom and Megafon will negatively impact its reach in the burgeoning market, reports “Fortune” (http://tinyurl.com/mseoqty). What’s more, as “Bloomberg” reported (http://tinyurl.com/lxfm7on) last week, MTS, Russia’s largest provider by subscribership, will be dropping the Apple smartphone from its lineup, saying subsidies and marketing costs were to blame.
