Trakdot is now shipping Trakdot Luggage devices. Created by GlobaTrac, they can be placed in any checked bag and will alert the user by reporting city and airport location in real time to any cellular telephone via text or e-mail.
Trakdot promises to help travelers and airlines quickly resolve the problem of misdirected luggage, particularly in situations where late check-ins may cause luggage to miss a flight, says CEO Harry Steck,
After traveling in “airplane mode” in flight, upon landing, the luggage locator system automatically transmits city-specific information on the whereabouts of checked baggage. Even if the Trakdot-protected bag doesn’t reach the desired destination, passengers will still have the assurance of knowing the location of the luggage, says Steck.
Once the device is registered on the Trakdot website and placed inside a checked bag, it will deliver location information directly to the user’s mobile phone or SMS device via text or email. Trakdot users who have iOS devices also have the option of using the Trakdot mobile application.
Using Bluetooth 4.0, the mobile app identifies the proximity of luggage when it approaches on the baggage carousel. The app will list all the traveler’s Trakdot-registered devices, allowing him or her to check the distance of each bag up to 160 feet, making it easier than ever for travelers to locate their bags.
Trakdot’s mobile application also allows you to register new devices and access the location history of your luggage. Alternatively, travelers can track their luggage’s location history on Trakdot.com .
The retail package includes the Trakdot Luggage device, luggage tag, and batteries. It works globally with any cell phone or SMS enabled device for an annual price. Each device can be linked to multiple phones, and each phone can track multiple devices.
The product is available for purchase at a manufacturer’s retail price of US$49.99 with an activation fee of $8.99 and an annual service fee of $12.99. Visit www.Trakdot.com for more information or to place an order.
