DEVONtechnologies (www.devontechnologies.com) has upgraded all editions of its information and knowledge manager DEVONthink as well as the notebook app DEVONnote for the upcoming OS X Yosemite with new features, interface adjustments, and bug fixes. The updates are free and recommended for all users.
User interface adjustments make the apps look better in Yosemite’s new flat design. Also, DEVONthink 2.8 comes with a new sharing extension. It allows users to clip text and web addresses from other Mac apps with a single click. Extensions are Yosemite’s new way for exchanging data between applications.
Other new features include a script for Safari that adds the web addresses of all open tabs as bookmarks to DEVONthink. Sharing information becomes easier with a Share submenu available in contextual menus of PDF and web views. The Clip to DEVONthink web browser extension now also works from Safari’s reading list. Users of both DEVONthink and DEVONnote can set images in web views as the bookmark’s thumbnail. Finally, DEVONthink Pro Office 2.8 now supports the ScanSnap Manager 6.x releases too.
In addition to the updates for DEVONthink for Mac, DEVONthink To Go 1.4.3 improves the compatibility to iOS 8 and the iPhone 6. Another update with more adjustments and a new feature is already in Apple’s review queue.
All editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote require OS X 10.7.5 or later (in the Mac App Store OS X 10.8.3 or later). Prices are: DEVONthink Pro Office: US$149.95; DEVONthink Pro, $79.95; DEVONthink Personal, $49.95 (Mac App Store, $49.99); and DEVONnote, $24.95 (Mac App Store: $24.99)
