At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Griffin Technology (www.GriffinTechnology.com) announced new accessories for USB-C connection ports (Apple’s 12-inch MacBook only has one port — and it’s USB-C).
With the introduction of USB-C on the MacBook, Apple removed the MagSafe connector. Enter Griffin’s BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable ($39.99), which brings back a magnetic breakaway power cable to USB-C compatible laptops, keeping them safe from drops and damage. The patented quick-release magnetic connector plugs into a laptop’s USB-C port and safely disconnects from the rest of the cable when put under stress or strain from incidents like tripping over the power cord.
The magnetic connector is only 12.8 mm deep so it can stay plugged into a laptop’s USB-C port when not in use. The BreakSafe’s included six-foot cable with the USB-C charger that comes with laptops such as the MacBook. BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable will be available in April at griffintechnology.com/us/breaksafe-magnetic-usb-type-c-cable.
Griffin’s USB-C to USB-A Adapter ($19.99) connects devices like tablets, smartphones or keyboards. For longer cable needs, Griffin’s new collection of three-foot USB-C cables are also available. USB-C to USB-A Cable ($19.99) charges and syncs devices through a USB-A port like a keyboard, mouse, and wall or car chargers. USB-C to Micro USB Cable ($19.99) connects devices like smartphones, hard drives, and cameras to computers with USB-C ports. The USB-C to USB-C Cable ($29.99) connects a user’s already compatible devices to each other whether at home or on the go. Griffin’s USB-C adapters and cables are now available at griffintechnology.com.
