Paragon Software Group has rolled out the latest version of The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary iOS app, developed by Oxford University Press. It’s the first version of the app that runs on the Apple Watch.
The app helps learners understand what words mean, learn how to say them and know how to use them. The update sports a new design (for quicker and easier navigation), new content (900 new words) and new functionality (such as “Practice your Pronunciation,” which enables learners to record their own voice, Split View, Spotlight and Slide Over.) The update allows Apple Watch users to look up words with voice recognition, open entries, listen to pronunciations, and check the Word of the Day. Learners can access the app through their iPhone to use its complete features.
Users can try out 100 entries from the dictionary for free by downloading the free sample app from the Apple App Store (http://tinyurl.com/hvp3dxk). An in-app purchase is required to activate the full A-Z. Existing users of the OALD app can upgrade for free (if they purchased the app after the last update in June 2015) or at a discount (if they purchased it before June 2015).
