Micromat has released an update to Drive Scope (https://www.micromat.com/products/drive-scope), their drive utility. Version 1.1 provides access to the S.M.A.R.T. data of drives utilizing the newer NVMe interface type.
S.M.A.R.T. stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology, and was designed to report on the health of internal and external hard drives. S.M.A.R.T. data was previously available on the Mac only from drives utilizing ATA or SATA interfaces, even using software provided by Apple.
Existing owners of Drive Scope can access this update for no cost by choosing “Check for Update…” from the Drive Scope menu. For new users the cost is $19.99. Drive Scope 1.1 requires macOS 10.8.5 or higher.
