Yesterday, Nikkei Asia published a report saying the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature blood pressure measurement capabilities. This has added to a complicated design leading to “quality issues” that mean the next gen smartwatch will be delayed. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says this isn’t true.
He says there’s “no chance” the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a blood pressure sensor. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other production issues that will delay the release of the updated smartwatch.
The Apple Watch Series 7 was expected to be announced along with the iPhone 13 and be available in late September or early October. The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks that’s still the case.
Rumored features of the Apple Watch Series 7 include:
° Sizes will increase from 40-millimeters and 44-millimeters to 41 and 45 millimeters.
° It will have a new design and speaker grills.
° It will pack a smaller “S7” chip that would leave more room for a larger battery or other components.
° It be offered in a green hue.
° It will (d’uh) sport a faster processor.
° It will sport a “new lamination technique” that raises the watch’s display closer to the top cover.
° It will borrow updated ultra-wideband technology from the Apple AirTag key finder.
