AT&T Giving Free Rollover Minutes

AT&T is apparently on a mission to keep people from migrating to the Verizon iPhone now announced, and is doing a variety of things to try and keep customers.

One thing they are doing is giving a free extra 1000 rollover minutes to customers. Some people are getting invitations to this via text that say:

“You’re a valued AT&T customer. We’d like to add 1000 bonus Rollover minutes to the mobile number ending in xxx. There’s NO cost or obligation to you. It’s our way of saying thank you. To have your minutes added, reply YES by 3/31/2011. Reply stop to end mktg msgs.”

DNS Provider ZoneEdit’s ns9 & ns13 Go Down

If you’ve noticed assorted web sites across the globe offline this morning, it may be that they are using ZoneEdit’s DNS servers. There are reports from a variety of places that starting around 4:15am Pacific, ZoneEdit’s ns9 and ns13 servers went offline. Those domains set up with the default two DNS servers (and if they used this two) had issues. Those web servers with at least 3 DNS servers listed were fine.

ZoneEdit has not responded to queries, and as of 7am pacific the issue continues.

The Good and Bad of Verizon iPhones

We welcome Verizon to the iPhone market: it’s been a long time coming, and it will challenge AT&T to provide better service and options, while at the same time growing the iPhone market for iOS developers. One thing to point out is that a Verizon experience is not going to be like an AT&T experience on the iPhone … both for the good and for the bad.
