On Thursday night, the second night of the conference, the MacTech Conference Party and MacTech Bowl will take place to help raise funds for this charity. Through party sponsorships, MacTech Conference will be making a donation to the Griffith Observatory “School Field Trip” program (our official charity for the conference).
FOTO is a non-profit, membership based organization, whose role is to support Griffith Observatory and its mission of being a vital community and international centerpiece of learning, discovery and inspiration about astronomy. (See http://www.griffithobs.org/foto.html for more information.)
In this time of budget cuts to public schools, FOTO has taken on the nearly $200,000 in costs to operate the “School Field Trip” program at the Griffith Observatory. This program targets 5th graders and gives a comprehensive package of transportation, pre-visit and post-visit learning materials, and on-site programs at the Observatory, all designed to educate and inspire these kids. In short, it helps kids see and understand the stars.
The MacTech Conference party will be at Jillian’s with multiple floors of activities including arcade, billiards, bowling, and the Parallel’s sponsored Guitar Hero room. And, some of MacTech Conference’s sponsors will be on hand to answer your questions about products. High score in bowling will receive the coveted MacTech Bowl winner recognition.
