Macworld Satechi has announced more details about its Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure that the company revealed last November. The Stand & Hub will start shipping in limited quantities starting on February 17, with full availability in March. With the price set at $100, customers can sign up to get updates about the product. Similar to Satechi’s older Mac mini model, the Stand & Hub is designed to sit underneath the M4 Mac mini and has a recessed area to accommodate the Mac mini’s vents. The Stand & Hub even addresses one major issue customers have with the Mac mini’s power button that is underneath the Mac, which requires the user to lift it for access. The Stand & Mac’s design leaves space around the power button so you can easily press it. The Stand & Hub connects to the Mac mini via USB-C and provides three USB-A ports and an SD Card reader on the front of the device for easy access. Underneath the Stand & Hub is a slot for an NVMe SSD module (sold separately) for adding external storage to the Mac mini. Users can add up to 4TB of storage with transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. Macworld Apple on Monday released iOS/iPadOS 18.2.1, a small update that addresses bug fixes. It arrives just a few weeks before iOS 18.3, which began testing in December. Apple’s release notes are very brief, merely stating that the update “provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all users.” It’s not clear what the update specifically fixes as there are no known widespread bugs in iOS 18.2. On Apple’s security site, it says the update has no published CVE entries, which is unusual for point updates. Additionally, there is no corresponding update for macOS or iOS 17 devices. Apple released iOS 18.2 in mid-December with several new Apple Intelligence features including ChatGPT integration, several quality-of-life improvements, and numerous security updates. To update your iPhone or iPad, head over to the Settings app, then General and Software Update.
