AT&T to acquire Excite@home’s cable service

A battered Excite@home is expected to file a pre-packaged bankruptcy filing later today that involves AT&T acquiring its high-speed cable modem service. AT&T relies on Excite@home for its cable modem service and already owns a good stake in the company. As part of the deal, AT&T will also gain Excite@home’s 3.7 million customers. AT&T apparently has no interested in the Excite portal, however, whose future at this point seems dim.
