Apple today updated its AirPort Express mobile base station with 802.11n to deliver up to five times the performance and twice the range of the previous model. Priced at US$99, AirPort Express is the “world’s smallest 802.11n-based mobile base station.” It can be plugged directly into the wall for wireless Internet connectivity and USB printing at home or easily brought on the road for wireless freedom wherever there is an Internet connection.

Apple has released AirPort Base Station Update 2008-001 via its Software Update application released. The company says: “The AirPort Base Station Update 2008-001 includes general fixes and compatibility updates for the following applications: AirPort Utility; AirPort Disk Utility; and AirPort Base Station Agent.

Apple has posted AirPort Base Station Update 2007-002 via its Software Update pane and on the Web. Apple notes; “The AirPort Base Station Update 2007-002 includes general fixes, compatibility updates, and security improvements for the following applications: AirPort Utility; AirPort Disk Utility; and AirPort Base Station Agent.

Apple today released AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001. The company notes: “The AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001 includes general fixes and compatibility updates for the following applications: AirPort Utility; AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow Base Stations; AirPort Disk Utility; and AirPort Disk Agent.” In addition, Apple says: “Only previously installed software from the list above will be updated.

Apple has released AirPort Update 2006-002. The company notes: AirPort Update 2006-002 improves AirPort compatibility in the following computers: MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo), MacBook Pro (17-inch Core 2 Duo), and MacBook (13-inch Core 2 Duo).

Apple today released Airport Update 2005-001 via Mac OS X’s Software Update utility. According to the release notes, this update “fixes reliability and resolves AirPort compatibility issues with certain third party 802.11 cards and access points for Mac OS X v10.4.3 and later.” [Thanks to MacMinute reader Scott Baker for this news tip.]
