Boris FX today announced the release of 18 real-time plug-ins for Avid’s Xpress DV nonlinear editing system. The plug-ins are available now as a free download to users of the Boris Continuum Complete AVX package. According to Boris’ announcement, this is the first time that a third-party developer has provided real-time effects capabilities using the native Avid effects interface.

Boris FX 6.1.2 is the latest version of the popular application for integrated effects creation in nonlinear editing, with features such as animated apply modes, motion blur, particles, lighting effects and displacement mapping. The update adds support for Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and Adobe Premiere 6.5. Boris FX is available for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, and sells for US$595.
