Apple scored the highest (74 out of a possible 100) among PC makers in the latest Consumer Reports desktop support survey. Over 4,000 consumers took part in the survey, which can be found in the March issue of the magazine. Apple was followed by Dell with 62, Gateway with 61, Hewlett-Packard with 54, and Compaq with 51.

Apple captured the highest rating (76/100) for technical support based on 7,400 responses from subscribers of the publication. Apple also did the best in terms of the number of repairs that were needed on systems during the past five years, according to more than 39,000 responses.
