Corel has discontinued its CorelDraw graphics suite product for Macs. “Corel has not experienced that much demand for this product from Mac users,” Corel CEO Derek Burney told Macworld UK.

Corel today announced that Lynda.com has produced training CDs for Corel Painter 8 and CorelDRAW 11. The US$49 CDs, entitled “Getting Started with Corel Painter 8” and “Getting Started with CorelDRAW 11,” each feature over 30 cross-platform QuickTime movies on how to use the graphics applications. The Corel training CDs are available now for pre-order and will start shipping July 21.

Corel has released an update to its CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 11, which includes CorelDRAW 11, Corel Photo-Paint 11, and Corel R.A.V.E. 2. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 11 Update 1 offers numerous enhancements and bug fixes, all of which are detailed in the release notes. The suite sells for US$429.

Corel is now seeking beta testers for Painter 8, the forthcoming version of its natural-media painting software. “We are looking for individuals on both PC and Mac platforms with experience using Painter, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator,” a posting on the company’s Web site said.

Apple has updated its Apple Store Hot Deals page with a new promotion, entitled “Suiten the Deal,” which offers customers highly discounted pricing on a variety of Procreate products when they buy CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 11 from the online Apple Store before December 31, 2002. With this offer, customers can purchase Procreate Painter for US$100 ($379 savings), Knockout for $50 ($279 savings), and KPT Effects for $49 ($50 savings). Orders for these products will be fulfilled directly through Corel.
