Apple has been nominated twice for Product Design in the Design and Art Direction (D&AD) Awards, notes Macworld UK. The entire PowerBook range is one of six nominees in the product design category. In addition, Apple’s iPod is up for an award for the Art Direction of TBWA/Chiat Day’s “yellow, green, pink, purple” advertisement for iPod mini. Applications for the Ninth Annual Apple Design Awards are due Monday, May 17 by noon ET. The awards, which will be presented at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, recognize excellence in Application Software, QuickTime Content, and Performance Demos. Apple has posted the winners from last night’s Eighth Annual Apple Design Awards, which honored developers for the creation of outstanding Mac OS X software. Salling Clicker 1.5 picked up awards for both Best Mac OS X Product (Best of Show) and for Most Innovative. Best Mac OS X User Experience went to Starry Night Backyard 4.0.
