Two publishers this week announced new books to show readers how to get the most out of Apple’s DVD Studio Pro 3. Peachpit Press released “DVD Studio Pro 3: Visual QuickPro Guide” ($29.99) by Martin Sitter.

Apple has released DVD Studio Pro 2.0.3, an updated version of its professional DVD authoring software. The update adds support for Cropped D-1 and 1/2 D-1 MPEG-2 video resolutions in addition to a number of enhancements and improved overall stability. The new version also “changes the behavior of the dual-layer break point to force a pause during playback of DVD-9 projects while the DVD player switches to the second layer.

Apple today released DVD Studio Pro 1.5.2, the latest version of its professional DVD authoring tool. The update addresses issues with setting dual layer break points on DVD-9 projects and flagging of Dolby Digital 5.1 streams. DVD Studio Pro sells for US$999; the update is a free download.
