Adobe finally blinked after Steve Jobs didn’t. As a young man Jobs actually practiced staring people down without blinking for long periods. He knew it freaked people out and so mastered long blinkless pearcing stares. Figuratively, he did that with Adobe by refusing to pre-load Flash on Macs, and Apple didn’t allow Flash to even run on the iOS platform. Wretched whining from various quarters didn’t get Apple to change its stand, as there really were technical issues that Adobe wouldn’t or couldn’t fix.

BannerZest 3 for Mac

Aquafadas has released version 3 of their Mac application BannerZest. BannerZest is a tool used to create banners for websites. BannerZest 3 can be purchased on the Aquafadas Website. The Pro version costs $129 and the Standard version costs $49.

One of the main additions to BannerZest 3 is the capability to create banners as HTML5 in addition to Flash. This allows the banners to be viewed on iOS and other devices that don’t support Flash. In addition, Aquafadas has added 14 new HTML5 themes in the Pro version and 10 new themes in the Standard version.

Apple today updated the MacBook Air with the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, Thunderbolt I/O technology, a backlit keyboard and Mac OS X Lion. “With up to twice the performance of the previous generation, flash storage for instant-on responsiveness and a compact design so portable you can take it everywhere, the MacBook Air starts at $999 (US) and is available for order today and in stores tomorrow.”

Flash-based digital audio player market to grow in 2005

Global sales of flash memory-based portable digital music players are expected to rise significantly this year, according to research from IDC cited by Creative Technology. Apple to introduce flash-based music player?

Citing “numerous sources in Asia,” Thomas Weisel analyst Jason Pflaum said today that Apple will use controller chips from semiconductor company SigmaTel for a new player it’s planning to launch before the holidays. But unlike Apple’s iPod and iPod mini, the new player will reportedly use solid-state flash memory, which offers less capacity but provides the company an opportunity to create a device smaller and lighter than the current iPod models. No other details were provided.

Macromedia updates Flash MX 2004

Macromedia has posted Flash MX 2004 version 7.2, an update to its professional multimedia software. Version 7.2 offers more than 120 bug fixes and additions, including improved performance and stability, enhanced documentation, and more efficient use of system resources. Macromedia said the update also increases developer productivity by reducing initial launch and compile times. Version 7.2 is available as a free download for current Flash MX 2004 and Flash MX Professional 2004 owners.
