Microsoft co-founder and chairman Bill Gates said Wednesday that the iPod has been “a great success,” but doubts the claims made by Wired earlier this month that the majority of his employees use the Apple player. In an interview with ABC News anchor Peter Jennings, Gates also made it clear that he is not an iPod owner. “I’m not an iPod user,” Gates said.

In an interview with CNET News.com, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates commented on the success of Apple’s iPod. “They had a hit with the Apple II, they had a hit with the Macintosh, and they have a hit with the iPod, so this is a company that’s had three hits, and that’s very impressive,” said Gates. “There are a lot of companies that don’t have three hits.
