Apple board member Gore acquires TV network

A newly formed media company led by former US vice president and current Apple board member Al Gore and successful entrepreneur Joel Hyatt today acquired Newsworld International (NWI) from Vivendi Universal Entertainment for an undisclosed sum. NWI will be developed by INdTV Holdings into a network offering “innovative and compelling programming created by and for a target audience of 18-34 year-olds.”

Al Gore gets 30,000 options for joining Apple’s board

Reuters reports that former U.S. Vice President Al Gore received 30,000 stock options for joining the board of Apple this month, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing released on Monday. In the filing, the company said it gave Gore 30,000 stock options with an exercise price of US$14.95. He could exercise options for 10,000 common shares in March 2004, another 10,000 in 2005 and the final 10,000 in 2006. The package expires in 2014.

Former Vice President Al Gore joins Apple’s Board of Directors

Apple today announced that Al Gore, the former Vice President of the United States, has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Gore was elected at Apple’s board meeting today. “Al brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and wisdom to Apple from having helped run the largest organization in the world — the United States government — as a Congressman, Senator and our 45th Vice President. Al is also an avid Mac user and does his own video editing in Final Cut Pro,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.
