Apple updates its iLife ’06 suite

Apple today released updates to its iLife ’06 suite of applications via its Software Update Utility. The company says: “iTunes 6.0.3 includes stability and performance improvements over iTunes 6.0.2. Note: After purchasing music from the iTunes Music Store with iTunes 6 or later, you will also need to upgrade your other computers that purchase music from the iTunes Music Store to the latest version of iTunes. This update to iDVD 6 resolves issues with integration with the other iLife applications, importing of legacy projects and some theme related issues.

Apple announces Apple iLife Educator Awards

Apple today announced the “Apple iLife Educator Awards” to recognize the most innovative uses of iLife, its integrated suite of Apple’s software for digital music, photography, moviemaking and DVD creation, in the classroom. Teachers that are “creatively using iLife applications to enhance lessons, exceed instructional standards and meet the needs of today’s students” are encouraged to submit their lesson plans for consideration. Apple has put together a collection of projects developed by students using iLife applications in language arts, math, science, social studies and other subjects. “Educators and parents will want to look at the lesson plans for these projects,” notes an Apple Hot News posting.

iLife now shipping

Several MacMinute readers report receiving shipment confirmation for iLife, Apple’s new suite of iApps that debuted at Macworld Expo. Apple said last week that it would delay shipment of iLife and release it a week later than originally announced. iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3 have yet to be posted on Apple’s Web site for download (iTunes 3 already available; iDVD 3 only available in retail iLife package for US$49).

Apple delays iLife

Apple said today that it will delay shipment of iLife, its new suite of iApps that debuted at Macworld Expo earlier this month. “We will be shipping our iLife retail package and making iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3 available for download on our Web site by Jan. 31, a week later than we originally announced,” Apple said in a statement. The company did not provide a reason for the delay.
