Apple quits taking iMac orders; New model in September

– Apple has quietly announced that it is no longer taking orders for the current iMac and that a new model will be introduced in September. “Apple has stopped taking orders for the current iMac as we begin the transition from the current iMac line to an all-new iMac line which will be announced and available in September,” reads a note on Apple’s Web site.

iMac SuperDrive firmware update available

Apple has released iMac SuperDrive Firmware Update 1.0 via the Software Update utility. The update addresses an incompatibility with 4x DVD-R and 2x DVD-RW media when used with the internal SuperDrive found in the 15″ flat-panel iMacs, and also fixes a problem with ejecting audio CDs that are copy-protected or have mastering errors.
