Jobs: Apple could move to Intel, but happy with IBM

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said on Wednesday that Mac OS X 10.3 Panther could easily run on Intel chips, but made it clear that Apple has little interest in changing processors. “It’s perfectly technically feasible to port Panther to any processor,” Jobs said at a meeting with financial analysts. Sculley: Apple should have used Intel chips

Apple should have adopted Intel processors when it had the chance, former Apple CEO John Sculley said Tuesday. “That’s probably one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made, not going to the Intel platform,” he said. “In the late-1980s, when Apple was using Motorola Inc. 68000 series chips and considering its next step, Intel co-founder Andy Grove tried to convince the company to migrate to Intel chips, Sculley told a standing-room-only crowd at the Silicon Valley 4.0 conference,” reports IDG.
