Battery Technology has announced the release of The iPod Battery, which comes with interchangeable cradles for the 3rd generation iPod and iPod Mini and provides up to 40 hours of music play-time or download time, regardless of the age or status of the original (internal) battery, reports iPodlounge. The US$99.95 battery (which comes with a recharger) doesn’t charge the internal iPod battery.

The iPodlounge notes that Apple is now offering a US$99 battery replacement program for iPods that are more than a year old. The new service includes labor, parts, and a 90-day guarantee on materials and workmanship.
