Kano Technologies has introduced the SureFIRE800, an ultra-small (3.25 x 5.25 x .75 inches) external hard drive with storage capacity of up to 80GB. The hard drive offers a 5400 RPM 8MB cache and FireWire 800/400 and USB 2.0 interfaces, allowing data transfer rates of up to 800 Mb/second. The SureFIRE800 comes with Dantz Retrospect Express backup software for Macs. Kano Technologies has introduced Kano ArchivMedia DVD+R double-sided (DS) media at Macworld Expo in San Francisco and CES in Las Vegas. “The first double-sided DVD+ media in the market, it is extremely accurate, durable and reliable,” says Kano. The company partnered with Verbatim to develop ArchivMedia DVD+R DS media for use with Kano XFiniti optical libraries, but it is also compatible with all DVD+ recorders and players. ArchivMedia will be manufactured by Verbatim for Kano.

Kano Technologies said that it will introduce a new 4x dual-format portable Slim DVD drive, show its recently announced 8x dual-format DVD drive for the first time, and exhibit its complete line of FireWire 800 storage products (including a new FireWire 800 portable hard drive) at Macworld Expo (Booth #722) this week.

Kano Technologies today introduced a new 8x dual-format DVD+RW/R and DVD-RW/R drive. The K8Xtreme has an 8x write speed for both DVD+R and -R media, and can record an entire DVD in less than 15 minutes. In addition, the K8Xtreme can write to and read CD media at 32x16x40x speeds, and can read DVD-ROM at a speed of 12x. The new drive is available in three versions: an internal model for PCs, and external models for PCs and Macs.

Kano Technologies has introduced its K4Xtreme 4x DVD+RW/R drive, a 4x write speed drive for both DVD+RW and +R media. With a storage capacity of 4.7GB per DVD, the K4Xtreme is ideal for video archiving, data backup and archiving. The new drive comes with all the necessary cables, DVD+R and DVD+RW media, and an instruction manual. Kano Technologies today announced that it has added FireWire 800 to its SureVAULT 800 RAID-5 desktop storage systems. The fast FireWire 800 connection allows users more flexibility and throughput over traditional FireWire 400 devices, notes the press release. SureVAULT 800 is hot-pluggable and is immediately recognized by Mac OS X and Windows XP, without the need for additional software.

Kano Technologies today announced its SLIM-K2Xtreme portable DVD+RW drive. The FireWire/USB 2.0 combo drive lets burn DVDs at speeds of up to 2.4x (write), 2.4x (rewrite) and 8x (read), and burn CDs at 16x (write), 8x (rewrite) and 24x (read). The SureVAULT RAID Desktop Mirrored Solution writes data simultaneously to two drives, creating and maintaining a constant mirror-image of all data. The SureVAULT RAID 5 Desktop Solution stripes data to three drives simultaneously. Both compact, plug-and-play systems are available with FireWire or USB 2.0 connections and the latest generation IDE hard drives.
