Ableton has announced Live 4, a new version of its real-time music-making application. Live 4 will offer MIDI sequencing, pattern recording, drag-and-drop sampling, virtual instruments and MIDI hardware support.

Live 3.03 from Abelton is an update to the popular sequencing instrument for Mac OS 9 and OS X. The new version offers a new Session and Arrangement demo song; a First Steps Tutorial mainly for new Live users (accessed by opening the DemoSession song); and an index for the English pdf manual. Live sells for US$399.

Version 2.1 brings full ReWire Master and Slave support, allowing Live 2.1 to run seamlessly with Digidesign Pro Tools 6.1 or any other ReWire application. The update also offers support for Sound Designer II files under OS 9 and OS X. In addition, Live 2.1 supports Direct I/O and easily connects to Digidesign hardware.
