Apple says Mac OS X-Only booting coming in 2003

Apple today announced at Apple Expo Paris that all new Macs sold will only boot in Mac OS X as the default operating system starting in January 2003. However, users will retain the ability to run most Mac OS 9 applications through the company’s bundled “Classic” software. “We’re happy to see Apple take this next step to drive adoption of Mac OS X,” said Kevin Browne, general manager of the Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft in the press release.
