Maxtor Corporation today unveiled its new Maxtor OneTouch II drive with a FireWire 800 interface. Shipping this month in the US and Canada, the new drive includes Maxtor DriveLock for added security and EMC Dantz Retrospect Express HD software for easy backup and restores. The Maxtor OneTouch II carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$259.95 for the 200GB and $329.95 for the 300GB. Worldwide availability is expected in July.

Maxtor has announced the OneTouch II external drive, offering an exclusive version of Dantz Retrospect backup software, a Maxtor DriveLock security feature for added data protection and more powerful restore capabilities, including historical backup recovery. The new OneTouch II comes with a 7200RPM 300GB (US$379.95) or 250GB ($329.95) hard drive with a 16MB buffer, and features a combo FireWire/USB 2.0 interface.
