Media 100 is planning to sell “substantially all” of its assets to Optibase Ltd., but will continue to develop, sell and support its 844/X editing-compositing systems, the Media 100 HD system, Media 100i software and other content design products.

Media 100, which makes such Mac compatible products as the Media 100 HD editing system, is seeking additional capital or a sale of all or part of their business, which may involve a reorganization. Company reps say that, in the event negotiations don’t result in “definitive arrangements in the short term,” Media 100 may shut down. In their Form 10-Q for the quarter that ended Aug.

Media 100 today announced Media 100 HD, a US$7,995 resolution-independent native HD and SD editing system targeted at Mac OS X users. “Powered by new GenesisEngine (844/X) technology, called HDX, Media 100 HD features 10-bit uncompressed resolution-independent native HD and SD editing. The real-time processing to support resolution independence, which permits editors to mix and match HD and SD source material in the same timeline, is a first for personal computers.

Media 100 today announced Media 100 i 8.2.1 software featuring support for the new Power Mac G5, as well as Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther). Media 100 systems with the new Media 100 i Version 8.2.1 software are expected to begin shipping by the end of this month. Media 100 today announced it has started shipping Media 100 i 8.0.1, the latest version of the company’s professional digital video system. Version 8.0.1 offers support for Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and has been certified on the dual 1 GHz and dual 867 MHz Power Mac G4 systems.
