Memorex today announced the Memorex True 8X External Dual Format DVD Recorder, which feature a silver and black design, precision recording and more. The new drive, which comes with both USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394a FireWire interfaces, also writes to CD-R discs at 32X; rewrites DVD+RW discs at 4X, DVD-RW discs at 4X and CD-RW discs at 24X; and reads DVD-ROM at 12X and CD-ROM at 40X speeds.

Memorex today announced the first ink jet printable CD-R media available to consumers, according to the company. Printable discs allow users to print directly on the surface of specially prepared CD-R media using widely available ink jet printers. Memorex offers CD-R discs that are rated at 48x, with 80 minutes of audio record time and 700MB of data storage. A 30-pack spindle of the ink jet printable CD-Rs is priced at US$14.99.

Memorex Products today announced exPressit SE 2.1, its new CD and DVD label maker software, with support for both PC and Mac OS X platforms. The software allows users to design and print labels as well as CD and DVD inserts, in less time and with more efficiency, notes the press release. exPressit SE 2.1 includes more than 600 images, 300 of which are licensed from the award-winning Hemera image library.

Memorex today introduced the USB ThumbDrive, an ultra-compact storage device capable of storing up to 64MB or 128MB of data. The plug-and-play drive is Mac and PC compatible, and will be available later this month, priced at US$59.99 for the 64MB ThumbDrive and $99.99 for the 128MB version.
