Konica Minolta announces new digital cameras

Konica Minolta has announced two new digital cameras—the 3.2 megapixel DiMAGE Xg and the 4.0 megapixel DiMAGE Z2. The DiMAGE Xg has a 3x optical zoom lens that’s adjusted internally and a 4x digital zoom that lets you extend your shooting range to 12x zoom. In Movie mode, the DiMAGE Xg can record movie clips at resolutions of 160 x 120 (or 320 x 240 pixels) onto a SD memory card for as long as its capacity will allow. Added to the standard frame-rate of 15 frames per second is a 30 frames per second mode for smoother moving images.

Minolta announces its fastest color laser printer yet

Minolta today introduced high-speed color laser printing to its product line with the new magicolor 3300 series. Delivering full 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution color at up to 26 pages per minute (ppm), the magicolor 3300 “brings color printing speed to a level never before offered at such an affordable price,” according to the press release. Two models of the new printer are available: the magicolor 3300 EN (US$1,999) and duplex-equipped DN ($2,199). Both printers are available now.

Minolta has introduced the new DiMAGE E223 digital camera featuring a 2.1-megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom lens, video recording capability, and more. The new camera also features a built-in flash, 1.5″ LCD, USB interface, and Secure Digital (SD) memory card or MultiMediaCard compatibility. Minolta and Konica to join forces

The Japanese camera and photocopier makers Minolta and Konica said Tuesday they have decided to merge in an effort to keep up with competition, reports Reuters. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but could result in the elimination of 4,000 jobs by 2005, or about 10 percent of their combined work force, the companies said.

Minolta announces new 5-megapixel digital camera

Minolta
today announced the DiMAGE 7Hi, a new 5-megapixel digital camera based on the company’s DiMAGE 7, with faster autofocusing, new flash synchronization terminal and “superior image quality.” The camera features a 7x optical, 2x digital zoom lens, GT Lens technology, and can also record high-quality 16-bit audio with still and moving images.
