Apple has sent out an invitation to select media announcing a special event to be held next week at San Jose’s California Theater. The event, which is slated for Oct. 26 at 10:00 a.m. PT, appears to be music related as the invite reads: “Steve Jobs, Bono and The Edge invite you to a special event.” Bono and The Edge are of course members of the popular rock band U2, who are featured in Apple’s latest iPod+iTunes commercial performing their new single “Vertigo.” The song is also available exclusively through Apple’s iTunes Music Store.

Apple Canada has announced that the company is presenting a one-day music-centric event in cities across Canada. “Join the Music Revolution” will show attendees “how technology from Apple and others can take you from the garage to the Grammys.

Several Apple retail stores will be broadcasting a live satellite feed of Apple’s music event scheduled to be held Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. PT in San Francisco. Apple is expected to debut iTunes for Windows at the special event. The invitation Apple sent out to various media outlets said “The year’s biggest music story is about to get even bigger.”
