Now Software today announced Now Up-To-Date & Contact 4.5.3 for Macintosh, the latest version of the company’s PIM software. Version 4.5.3 provides numerous improvements to the public event and contact servers that allow users to share their calendars and contact lists. Other improvements include extended AppleScript support for Now Contact and improve banner display in Now Up-to-Date. Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.5.3 for Mac is priced at US$129.95 for the boxed version, or $119.95 for the online download version.

Now Software will release version 5.0 of Now Up-to-Date & Contact late in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of the year. The update of the cross-platform application will be Mac first and will be only for Mac OS X (support for Mac OS 9.x will be dropped). Version 5.0 will add a new unified integration and e-mail integration. Now Software, makers of the popular Now Up-to-Date & Contact, this week closed their Minneapolis, Minnesota office, laying off all employees. “While we’re saddened by the loss of our Minneapolis branch, we’re taking this opportunity to expand the Columbus [Ohio] office, decrease costs, and increase our level of service,” Randy Murray, director of marketing at Now Software, told MacMinute.

Now Software today announced an enhanced Mac version of Now Up-to-Date that permits users to open and read calendars created in the company’s recently released Windows version of Now Up-to-Date. It will allow users with multi-platform environments to exchange calendar files without data translation. Now Up-to-Date 4.2.6 is available today and is a free upgrade for licensed owners of Version 4.0 or later.
