Opera Software today released a series of one-click setups that change the appearance of the company’s Web browser to emulate the look and feel of other popular browsers such as Safari, Internet Exporer and Firefox. The setups, which are available as a free download, instantly replace the toolbars, menus and keyboard shortcuts of the Opera Web browser.

Opera Software today announced a beta version of Opera 7.50, a new release of its Web browser for Mac, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris. “Today’s release marks the first time that upgrades for all desktop platforms have been released simultaneously, with Opera now bringing its Mac browser up to par,” notes the company. Opera 7.50 offers a new user interface, a built-in e-mail client (with newsgroup and RSS support), a new IRC-compatible chat feature, and more.

Opera Software has quietly announced the release of Opera 7.50 Preview 3, the first release of the Web browser for the Mac using Opera’s 7.x codebase. The completely says that the software is nearly a complete code rewrite and sports Opera 7’s Presto rendering engine. Other features include Opera Mail, Opera Chat, integration with Keychain, and more.

As expected, Norway-based Web browser developer Opera made its debut on the Oslo Stock Exchange on Thursday, with shares rising slightly in morning trading. “The browser maker said its issue of 12.5 million new shares was oversubscribed by 20 times, with 83 percent of subscribers being foreign institutional investors,” reports CNET News.com. “Shares rose from 10 kroner ($1.42) to about 10.3 kroner ($1.46) by mid-morning.

As expected, Opera Software, the Norway-based Web browser developer, has announced details of its initial public offering. “Opera Software’s Board of Directors yesterday decided to issue between 12.5-16.1 million new shares in relation to its announced Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSE). In addition, existing shareholders have decided to sell 11,844,900 existing shares in the transaction.

Norway’s Opera Software, makers of the world’s No. 3 Web browser, today announced that it plans to publicly list shares on the Oslo stock exchange next month. “Opera has come far, and a public listing will give us more flexibility to expand our position as a leading player in the Internet arena,” said Opera co-founder and chief executive Jon von Tetzchner.

Opera Software on Wednesday released Opera 6.03, an update to its alternative Web browser that adds support for the upcoming release of Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. “The release of Opera 6.03 for Mac allows for continued use on Panther while development continues on Opera 7 for Mac to be released later this year,” notes the developer. “Additional modifications found in version 6.03 include bug fixes and the removal of the start-up dialog for unregistered browsers.” Read More
