Orange Micro today announced a new FireWire 800/USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure. The US$129 enclosure is compatible with any 3.5-inch IDE hard drive, has two FireWire 800/1394b ports and one USB 2.0 port, and is “lightweight, attractive, and stackable.” It will ship on October 13, 2003.

Orange Micro has announced the OrangeLink FireWire 800 PCI card, which is equipped with two 9-pin FireWire 800/1394b ports, is fully backward compatible with an additional 6-pin FireWire 400/1394a port, and is designed to operate in a 64-bit PCI slot (will also function in a 32-bit PCI slot with limited performance). The FireWire 800 PCI card is priced at US$89 and will ship in May.
