O’Reilly today announced the release of “Essential Mac OS X Panther Server Administration,” a new book by Michael Bartosh and Ryan Faas for systems or network administrators. At over 800 pages, the book is divided into sections on installation, directory services, client management, and more. In addition, the authors identify and describe the differences between Mac OS X Server and Client, and between Mac OS X Server and other server platforms. “Essential Mac OS X Panther Server Administration” is priced at US$49.95.

O’Reilly releases “Mac OS X Tiger for Unix Geeks”

O’Reilly’s Mac OS X Tiger for Unix Geeks, by Brian Jepson and Ernest E. Rothman (the latest edition of the book), has been revised and expanded to cover “further changes to what is now, ironically, the world’s most widely-used Unix system.” O’Reilly says that this book is a “survival guide for developers and system administrators who want to tame the Unix side of Mac OS X.” The revised book covers five areas: Getting Around, Building Applications, Working with Packages, Serving and System Management, and Appendixes.
