Apple has posted a Knowledge Base document that says the Power Mac G5 is not supported for use with any version of Mac OS X Server 10.2, or any earlier version of Mac OS X Server. “Mac OS X Server 10.3 will be supported on Power Mac G5 computers,” notes the document. “Power Mac G5 computers require Mac OS X 10.2.7 (G5), which is made specifically for this computer.

Apple today posted a new security update for Mac OS X Server, which “updates Apache 2.0.45 to 2.0.46 and addresses a security hole in the mod_dav module that could be exploited remotely causing an Apache Web server process to crash. In addition, this update prevents the exposure of a user’s password when using the dsimportexport tool. Apache 1.3 is unaffected and is the primary Web server on Mac OS X Server.

VersionTracker notes that Apple has released Mac OS X Server 10.2.6, which “delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following: Print services, Graphics and peripheral device support.”

Network Magazine has announced the winners of its 16th Annual Products of the Year Awards, which recognize the “outstanding technical achievement of products and services that are most significant to the network IT community.” Included in the list of winners — 27 awards were handed out in 8 categories — is Apple’s Mac OS X Server v10.2.

VersionTracker notes that Apple has released Mac OS X Server 10.2.5, which delivers “enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, services and technologies: Software RAID, AFP, NetBoot, Network Install, Open Directory Password Server, QuickTime Streaming Server and Workgroup Manager.”
