Roku today released a software update to its PhotoBridge HD1000, its digital media player that displays photos, music, art and video on any TV, including HDTV. The version 2.0 software adds support for AAC music files, DVD-style MPEG2 program stream playback, Windows Media connect, UPnP AV, Internet radio, foreign languages, and more. The Roku PhotoBridge HD1000 is priced at US$299.

Roku today announced the new low cost SoundBridge M500 network music player. The M500 streams music from any computer (Mac or PC) to powered speakers or a stereo system anywhere in your house. Songs are piped through either its built-in Ethernet or integrated WiFi connections. The M500, which offers a 40-character LCD display and included remote control, supports streaming music in WMA, AAC, MP3, AIFF and WAV formats.
