Shrook 2.0 is the latest version of the RSS and Atom newsfeed reader. New features in Shrook 2.0 include: Smart Groups that allow flexible custom views and filters of incoming news; new iTunes-influenced user interface; support for the Atom syndication format; full back/forward history; individual view options for each channel; inline previews of item bodies for faster browsing; distinguishes new unread items from old ones; and the ability to mark items for later. Shrook is US$19.95 shareware and requires Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther).

Shrook 1.0 is an RSS news gatherer that consolidates items from any RSS-enabled Web site into a simple interface. In additon to the usual RSS features (keeping track of what items you’ve read, when the site was last updated, automatically checking the channel, alerting you when sites update), Shrook offers a “New” tab that lists channels by the date they were updated, can keep items for a user defined time, allows separate settings for each channel, and has an auto-updating channel guide.
