McAfee today announced that McAfee Virex for Macintosh now offers support for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. “McAfee Virex utilizes the award-winning McAfee scan engine for complete, proactive virus protection for Macintosh systems, stopping virus and malicious code threats, including hidden threats buried in archives and other compressed file types,” notes the company.

McAfee today announced the availability of McAfee Virex 7.6, offering small to large businesses centrally-managed virus protection for their Mac OS X systems. Version 7.6 includes an agent that communicates with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), for centralized system security policy configuration and enforcement, and detailed reporting that enables enterprises to efficiently and cost-effectively manage their Virex-protected clients.

.Mac members can now download Virex 7.5.1, an update to McAfee’s anti-virus protection software that apparently fixes problems with version 7.5. Apple posted and quickly pulled Virex 7.5 in August due to unamed issues users were having. “Due to customer feedback and technical issues currently under investigation, we have temporarily discontinued distribution of Virex 7.5 from McAfee until further notice,” Apple stated.

.Mac members can now download a free version of Virex 7.5, the latest release of McAfee’s anti-virus protection software. Virex offers real-time prevention of Mac, PC and UNIX viruses, worms, Trojans and other malicious code threats. New features of version 7.5 include real time “on access” scanning, automatic eUpdate functionality, scheduling options for On Demand scans and updating and the latest McAfee anti-virus scan engine.

McAfee has posted a beta version of Virex 7.5, a new release of its anti-virus application. Virex 7.5 adds an updated revision of the Network Associates Olympus scanning engine, on-demand scanning, scan and update scheduling, online help, drag-and-drop scanning, automatic eUpdate functionality, and the latest 4240 McAfee antivirus engine.

VersionTracker notes that Apple’s .Mac Web site has been updated with a new version of Virex, McAfee’s popular anti-virus software, which corrects a conflict with Fink. Virex 7.2.1 is available only to .Mac members.
