An e-mail sent to MacMinute by Microsoft notes that: “As you may know, Virtual PC 7 ships with Windows XP both in a box by itself as well as in the Office 2004 for Mac Professional Edition. We are waiting for the release of Windows XP SP2 in order to offer the most recent, most secure version of Windows XP to our Virtual PC for Mac customers.

Microsoft has released Virtual PC for Mac 6.1.1, the latest version of the popular PC emulation software. This update addresses security issues and bugs related to running upcoming Windows XP Professional service packs. At Macworld Expo last month, Microsoft said it plans to release Virtual PC 7.0 in the first half of 2004.

Microsoft has released Virtual PC 6.1, the first update to the popular PC emulation software since the software giant acquired it from Connectix earlier this year. “Updating to Virtual PC for Mac version 6.1 enables users of Connectix Virtual PC for Mac to seamlessly transition product support to Microsoft.

The folks at Connectix let us know that they “highly recommend” users of Virtual PC, the company’s flagship Windows emulation package, running Mac OS X 10.2 update to Mac OS X 10.2.1, released yesterday. The update includes a number of enhancements that improve compatibility with Virtual PC.
