Along with two new music channels, XM Satellite Radio today announced that its Internet radio service is now available to Mac users. XM Radio Online, which debuted last month, is now compatible with Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Netscape Navigator browsers on Macs with Windows Media Player 9.0 installed. The service offers 72 commercial-free music channels and several talk and entertainment programs. XM Radio Online is available for a monthly fee of US$7.99. XM Satellite Radio subscribers can get XM Radio Online for $3.99.

XM Satellite Radio is expected to unveil a “wearable” device next week that will allow users to not only listen to XM content but download it to a built-in hard drive as well. An XM spokesman declined to comment beyond saying a major product announcement was planned for Oct. 26 in New York. “XM is also likely to announce its wearable device next week.

Satellite radio operator XM Radio has announced plans to launch an online music service. “Dubbed XM Radio Online, it will launch sometime in early October and operate commercial-free, just as its satellite programming does,” reports CNET News.com. “XM will charge US$7.99 per month for unlimited listening and offer a discount rate of $3.99 to subscribers of its existing radio services.
