The Yale Daily News reports that nearly 20 percent of Yale University students and 33 percent of faculty use Macs. “Apple has made a much larger comeback in Yale student and faculty computing than its 10 to 12 percent national market share would indicate. According to Yale Information Technology Services’ registration records, nearly 20 percent of University students and 33 percent of faculty choose Macs over Windows PCs.

The Yale Daily News, the oldest college daily in the country, is now being produced using Power Mac G5s, Xserves and iMacs. “For the staff of the Yale Daily News, midnight is more than just ‘the witching hour.’ Throughout the school year, it’s a mere hour before deadline. While their classmates slumber or study, the 24-member team scrambles to edit and proof stories, tweak page designs, and FTP the electronic files off to the publisher. If all goes well, the paper hits newsstands by early morning.
